I’m the world’s worst holidaymaker and this year’s family spring break, though lovely and restorative in lots of ways, saw me at my most distracted. Mind you, it wasn’t just me: my wife and our three children were similarly gripped and horrified by Donald Trump’s insane behaviour. You could almost feel his polluting essence washing up on the shores of the tiny seaside village where we stayed.
Meanwhile, stuff started going on in London that further diverted my attention from pasties and rock pools. The most distracting concerned the related matters of the politics of Westminster Council and Sir Sadiq Khan’s plans for Oxford Street. People are astonished. People are annoyed. People are asking themselves “what next”?
