By this time next week Londoners will have marked their crosses on their three ballot papers. At one of nine locations across the city, officials will be verifying them in readiness for the count the following day. If all goes smoothly, by next Saturday evening we will know who is to be London's Mayor for the next four years. Readers of On London Extra may have already decided which candidate they want to win. But what about everyone else?
In recent days there have been two broadcast debates between the top four candidates, the first on LBC, the second on the BBC. An awful lot of the six million Londoners eligible to vote will have been quite literally unaware of the election coming on 2 May before encountering those shows.
