Yesterday’s opening of the Silvertown Tunnel has generated the reactions I expected. Big Media has been describing the project as “controversial”, which 44 years of experience as a journalist tells me means they have been helpfully provided with lots of protests to report and have received many long and detailed emails from a small number of deeply dedicated anti-tunnel campaigners. I know I have.
