This kind of old fashioned “yeah but” liberal nonsense about things are no worse than the good old days, damages your credibility. Citizens of London are controlling the crime wave by modifying their behaviour and avoiding the areas dominated gangs, feral children, migrants working for organised crime, drug addicts, shoplifters and criminal professionals, who know that convictions are at record lows and custodial sentences are now too short to deter. Within this “zoo” it would be statistically unlikely that migrants were not committing at least 50% of crime as they are over 50% of London’s population. The reality is that it is higher. You might ride a populist liberal wave with your denials but to ordinary Londoners your credibility is shredded by pieces like this. Why not show some courage and stature by admitting the problem?

I spend hundreds of days a year all over London, often out at night, and nothing you say is my reality. London is safe. I go when and where I like usually in the centre, the East End and South of the river. I live out West in a not-wealthy bit of a wealthy borough. I don't worry about my own safety at all, other than keeping my eyes open late at night around the back streets near the clubs and pubs - as I do in any town in England. I am sure there are pickpockets and phone snatchers around the tourist areas, as anywhere in the world. The beggars are annoying outside my local station, but they are not robbing me.

You are either smoking too much "wacky backy" or you're accidentally watching the Walking Dead on Netflix and think you are watching the news.

The pub next 200yds from my mothers now has a bleed box on the wall after a fatal stabbing. The FE college further up the road has too and it has a stabbing lockdown procedure. This is in suburban Hornchurch. My brother in Upminster took a youth indoors who was being pursued by a gang with knives. Upminster that is safe leafy suburbs you talk of. Sorry but it does not wash. London has serious problem with gangs, drugs, muggings, shoplifting but not in the bubble you walk in.
